Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis is back on the road as the Catamounts visit the Samford Bulldogs in Birmingham, Ala., on Sunday (March 21) in Southern Conference action set for Noon CT / 1 p.m. ET at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavilion.
WCU (2-12, 0-2 SoCon) looks to rebound after most recently falling to Furman. Sunday's road tilt is WCU's first true road match since its Feb. 24 match at ETSU. Samford (9-6, 1-0 SoCon) returns to action for the second time in three days, most recently downing the Mercer Bears 4-3 on Friday, March 20.
The Catamounts have three wins all-time against Samford, with two of those coming in the last three seasons. One of the squads will earn its first league victory of 2026 on Sunday.

Players to Watch:
Mariya Dobreva and Mia Miranda have led the Catamounts in singles play this season, with the two competing as the first and second seeds, respectively. Dobreva has a 7-7 record exclusively on the top court, with Miranda posting five wins on the second line.
Additionally, Axelle Van Beurden has played well in recent matches. She paired with fellow freshman Kelly Coetzee for a 6-2 doubles win against Furman, but fell in tight singles matches to the Paladins and Marshall last week.
Samford is primarily led by Sara and Lea Erenda, who have split time on the top court this season. The duo has combined for a 4-10 record on the top court. Cathy Cardona-Carballosa leads the Bulldogs in terms of overall record, going 9-4 this season, though most of her wins have come as the No. 6 seed.
