During the 2020-21 season, Carter mentored Southern Conference Libero of the Year Destinee Dorsey. Dorsey, the first freshman to win the Libero of the Year honor since 2017, led the league with 343 digs and 5.40 digs per set. Dorsey ranked 41st nationally in digs per set. As a team, WCU was second in the SoCon and 21st nationally with 18.12 digs per set.

In her first season working with the Catamount defense in 2019, Carter worked with Southern Conference Libero of the Year Meagan Sanchez. Sanchez, who was the first Libero of the Year in program history, led the league with 602 digs and ranked 22nd nationally. The Catamounts led the SoCon in digs and ranked second in hitting percentage by opponents at .188.

Carter joined the Catamount family after spending the 2018 season as an assistant coach and interim head coach at Nicholls State in Thibodaux, La. As an assistant, Carter was responsible for scouting opponents, developing a defensive game plan, organizing camps, handling team travel and meals and film review. Carter served as interim head coach for the final five matches of the season.

Prior to her time at Nicholls State, Carter was an assistant coach at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, S.D. where she was in charge of travel, meals, budgeting, scheduling, scouting and breaking down film. She began her coaching career as a beach volleyball assistant and volunteer indoor volleyball assistant at UAB.

During her collegiate career at Samford, Carter played at Southern Conference member Samford where she was a four-year letterwinner and member of SoCon tournament championship teams in 2011 and 2014. Carter was named the SoCon Tournament MVP in 2014 and was the league’s Libero of the Year in 2014. Following her time at Samford, Carter played beach volleyball at UAB for the 2015-16 season with a 16-15 record playing at the top pairing.
