Sammy Adkisson

Sammy Adkisson completed his first season as an assistant coach at Western Carolina during the 2023 season.

In his debut season for the Catamounts, Adkisson worked mainly with the liberos throughout the campaign led by freshman Eda Yalcinkaya who posted 324 digs in her debut season. She posted 21 double-digit dig performances, including a season-high 19 against Wofford in the SoCon tournament. As a team, WCU finished fourth in the league in digs/set, averaging 16.23. In late October, WCU handed previously unbeaten The Citadel its first loss of the 2023 season in a five-set triumph in Cullowhee.

Prior to coming to Cullowhee, Adkisson played four years as a libero at Ball State. During his tenure with the Cardinals he earned a pair of Academic All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball (MIVA) honors. In his junior year, Adkisson was a part of a Cardinals team that won the MIVA regular season and tournament titles along with an automatic bye to the 2022 NCAA semifinal round.

Adkisson earned my Bachelor of Science in Sports Administration from Ball State in 2023.
