Collin Lawless was named the Assistant Director of Sports Performance at Western Carolina in June, 2021. Lawless will oversee the sports performance training of the Men’s Basketball and Volleyball programs. Coach Lawless will also assist in the training of the Football, Women’s Basketball, and Baseball programs as well. Coach Lawless will be working to improve the sports performance programs by designing systematic training programs for reliable long-term athletic development.
Prior to arriving at WCU, Lawless was the Assistant Director of Sports Performance at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. At UAPB, he oversaw the sports performance training of the Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs as well as the Volleyball and Golf programs. Coach Lawless also assisted the training of the Football, Baseball and Women’s Soccer programs as well. In addition to his training duties, Coach Lawless improved the sports performance programs through reliable athletic-based testing protocols, nutrition education, & training education on multiple social media platforms as well as designing systematic training programs for reliable long-term athletic development.
Lawless has had stops at the University at Buffalo (Fall 2020), the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (2018-2020), William Penn University & Pella High School (2017-2018), Appalachian State (Summer 2017), and Christopher Newport University (2015-2017).
Lawless holds a bachelor's degree in Pre-Law/American Studies from Christopher Newport University (2017) where he was a four-year letterman on the varsity baseball team. Lawless also holds a master's degree in Exercise Science from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (2020). Coach Lawless is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, a certified Level 1 Sports Performance Coach through USA Weightlifting as well as a certified Level 1 Coach through Precision Nutrition.
