Volleyball Takes Appalachian State in Three

Boone, N.C. - The Western Carolina volleyball team took the first three games from Southern Conference opponent Appalachian State Wednesday night at Varsity Gym.

The Lady Cats overcame the Mountaineers as they led Western by as many as five points in the first game. Western went on to defeat Appalachian State 15-13. They held the lead the entire second game and scored eight of the final nine points to win game two 15-7.

Western Carolina was led by a solid all around performance by junior Christy Attebery, who tallied a match-high 18 kills, on 43 attempts and notched 11 digs.

Sophomore Cindy Camp led the team defensively with 13 digs. She has led the Lady Cats in digs in the last two games recording 20 against Furman earlier this week. Junior setter Bri Milan-Williams sparked the WCU attack with 38 assists and a pair of service aces.

Western improves to at 6-10 record overall and 4-3 in the Southern Conference. They will take on College of Charleston Saturday, October 7 at 2:00 p.m. and The Citadel Sunday, October 8 also at 2:00 p.m.

The College of Charleston game on Saturday has been moved to Reid Gym.
