Birmingham, Ala. - The Western Carolina Volleyball team battled Troy State to the wire in each game during the first
round of the State Farm/Samford Invitational, but could not find a way to turn the tide in their favor. The Lady Cats dropped a
hard fought match that could have gone either way, 3-0 (15-13, 15-13, 16-14).
All-Southern Conference performers Christy Attebery and Bri Milan-Williams again lead the way for the Catamounts and the core
of freshman that surround them appear to be learning and gaining more experience with each match. The Invitational continues
Saturday with the Catamounts facing host Samford at 11:00 am and then a quick turnaround as they will close the event in a
2:00 pm match against Tennessee State.
A tough weekend continues for the Lady Cats as they return home for a key Southern Conference match with Georgia Southern
on Sunday, September 24. Match time is 2:00 pm at the Ramsey Center. Admission is free.
