Conway, S.C. - The Lady Catamount tennis team struggled to put together a comeback against Coastal Carolina just one day after doing so versus Presbyterian College as Western Carolina fell 7-0 to the Chanticleers Saturday.
Coastal claimed all three doubles matches for the first point of the match. The number one seed duo of Marie Matrka and Medina Bajrambasic defeated the tandum of Rocio Perez and Erin Johnson, 8-2. Stephanie Koot and Petra Jantti shut out WCU's Kristin Cotton and Katie VanEwyk, 8-0, while Rosemary Younger and Nicole Lemmerer beat Kristin Munn and the Lady Cats' newest member Elysa Montgomery, 8-3.
The Chants went on to claim all six singles victories to go away with the shutout of Western. Cotton came close in her first set against CCU's Jantti before Jantti pulled out the win, 7-6(3), 6-1.
The Catamounts face Gardner-Webb in the team's next match. The two squads will square off on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Noon.
