Loss Extends Skids: With the loss to the Bulldogs, Western Carolina has dropped its last five meetings with Samford ... the Catamounts are now 1-5 against the Bulldogs all-time ... WCU also dropped its third-straight SoCon home opener, while seeing its conference losing skid extended to 17-straight losses in league play.

First Pick of the Season: Western Carolina quarterback Andy Horn threw the first interception by a Catamount QB this season when his pass was picked off by Samford's Bryce Smith in the first quarter ... WCU tossed two INTs as Zack Jaynes was intercepted late in the second quarter ... Western Carolina was one of just two teams yet to throw a pick on the season -- the run-oriented Wofford Terriers were the other.

Picking It Up Off the Turf: With three fumble recoveries, against Samford, Western Carolina has now picked up at least one fumble in the last three games.

Zack Jaynes Career-High: Redshirt freshman QB Zack Jaynes had a career-high in passes (15) and yards (121) against the Bulldogs ... he saw action in the first quarter, his earliest entry into a game this season.

Thomas Records First: Freshmen wide receiver Andrerius Thomas hauled in his first pass as a Catamount in the second half against Samford - a five-yard pass from red-shirt freshman quarterback Zack Jaynes ... He ended the contest with three receptions for 21 yards.

Bostic Boots Career-Long: Catamount kicker Blake Bostic's 43-yard field goal in the second quarter against Samford was a career-high for the junior from Bostic, N.C.

Catamounts with Career Days: Senior wide receiver Donald James hauled in a career-high 77 yards in passing against Samford ... junior linebacker Adrian McLeod had a career-high 14 tackles on Saturday.
