With the loss ...
- Western Carolina ends the season with six-straight losses and the fifth-consecutive in the head-to-head series to Elon; It is also WCU's third-straight road loss to the Phoenix;
- The Catamounts conclude the 2010 season at 2-9 overall, 1-7 in Southern Conference play;
- Western Carolina finished with a 2-9 overall record and a 1-7 mark in the SoCon for a second-consecutive season ... It is also WCU's third 2-9 finish since 2006.
Post-Game Notes:
- Western Carolina's second-quarter touchdown snapped a seven-quarter touchdown drought which dated back to the first half of the Furman game;
- Michael Johnson scored his ninth career rushing TD in the second quarter, giving him a career seasonal-best five this year for the sophomore;
- Senior quarterback Matt Wabby tossed his first WCU career passing touchdown in the fourth quarter ... the Westlake Village, Calif., native orchestrated a five-play, 79-yard drive that took 1:18 and finished with the first career receiving touchdown for Taylor Spangler - a five-yard TD strike;
- WCU's final scoring drive of the season was spurred by the career-long rush for true freshman running back Marshaun Edwards ... the Mooresville, N.C., native rumbled 60 yards to put the Catamounts into scoring position ... Edwards' previous long rush of the season was just three yards at The Citadel;
- Including being outscored 17-0 in the third quarter at Elon, Western Carolina finished the season being outscored 119-21 by its opponents this year.
Miscellaneous Notes:
Western Carolina's team captains for Saturday's game at Elon were #20 Nate Harris, #58 Zak Warner and #93 Charles Johnson, and were joined by the 2010 senior class; Elon won the opening coin toss and deferred to the second half, WCU received the opening kickoff.
