Western Carolina Tennis Falls to Georgia Southern

CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Western Carolina tennis fell Sunday afternoon to Georgia Southern 6-1 at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

Georgia Southern picked up the doubles point, defeating No. 1 doubles 8-1 and No 2. doubles 8-0.

Karen Jiménez won her seventh singles match of the season, winning in the No. 4 spot. Jiménez defeated Natalie Maffett 7-6, and then was up 2-0 before Maffett retired from the match.

Ainhoa Iglesias-Díaz fell in a third set tiebreak to Melanie Rolle in the No. 3 singles match. After dropping the first set 6-1, Iglesias-Díaz fought back to win the second set 7-5. Rolle finished up on top in the tiebreak set, winning 10-2.

The Catamounts will be back in action Tuesday as Western Carolina travels to Durham, N.C. as the Catamounts face North Carolina Central at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday WCU will be back on the road to Greenville, S.C. to take on SoCon foe Furman.
