Catamounts Close Out Season at NCAA East Preliminary

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore Anisia Starege was the lone Western Carolina track & field student-athlete in action Saturday night at the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Fla. Starege cleared 1.70m (5-07.00) in the women's high jump to finish tied for 26th overall.

Starege needed to finish in the top 12 in order to advance to the NCAA Finals in Eugene, Ore. Jailah Mason of Morgan State and Claudia Garcia Jou of Akron tied for the win after clearing 1.82m (05-11.50).

In all, the Catamounts had nine student-athletes compete over the three day event. Starege had the top overall finish for the Catamount women while senior Abraham Faison procured the best finish for the men as he placed 29th in the 110m hurdles.
