Day One Results 
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior Jordan Bostian led the way for Western Carolina men’s and women’s track and field, in day one of the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by South Carolina, winning the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:29.03.
Bostian’s victory was one of three top-three finishes for the Catamount men’s and women’s teams at the meet hosted by the Gamecocks.
The WCU’s men’s foursome of Henry Kiedy, Devaniel Dale, Chase Washington-Saunders and Dakota Lamont placed second in the 4x300 clocking in with a time of 2:18.22. Lindsey Trotter placed third in the women’s 5,000 meters at 18:21.34.
Other top finishes for WCU includes the women’s version of the 4x300 with the Catamount tandem of Dasha Arnaut, Sally Woerner, Kellsie Whitehead and Jazmine Gooden who placed fifth with a time of 2:43.17.
There were also top-10 finishes in the hammer throw for three Catamounts. On the women’s side, Simone Williams placed ninth with a throw of 47.15m. In the men’s invitational hammer throw, Scott Peretin tossed a throw of 56.60m for ninth place. Jay Stanley competed in the open hammer throw finishing eighth with a toss of 45.35m.
