Dasha Arnaut Clocks in Personal Best to Move on in the NCAA East Preliminaries

TAMPA, Fla. – Western Carolina track and field junior Dasha Arnaut clocked in a personal best time of 58.46 in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles, at the NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary on Thursday, to move on to the quarterfinals on Friday in Tampa, Fla.

Arnaut's time was just shy of the Western Carolina school record of 58.05 set by Asia Davis at the same NCAA East Preliminary in 2005. Arnaut's time was the 15th best for the day.

In other action on the day, three Catamounts ended their season on Thursday Senior Scott Peretin placed 46th with a throw of 58.36m in the hammer throw while Dakota Lamont was 34th in the 400m with a time of 47.26. Jazmine Gooden closed out the season with a leap of 5.18m in the long jump while freshman Jaelyn Warren closed out her first season at WCU with a mark of 1.65m in the high jump.

There is more action on Friday including Arnaut moving on in the 400m hurdles, Mateius Brown in the discus and the men's 4x400 meter relay.
