Mount Olive, N.C. – Western Carolina volleyball junior setter Hannah Price and senior libero Meagan Sanchez were named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Team, the organization announced Thursday afternoon. Price was named to the First Team while Sanchez took a spot on the Second Team. Both players appear on the team for the first time.
Price ranked fifth in the Southern Conference with 1,023 assists and 10.23 assists per set. The Piney Flats, Tenn. native posted 14 double-doubles with a career-high 53 assists against Drake and a career-best 19 digs against Wofford. She earned SoCon Setter of the Week accolades on Oct. 27 and ranks 12th on WCU's career assists list.
Sanchez, the 2019 Southern Conference Libero of the Year and a First Team All-Conference recipient, led the Catamounts and the SoCon with 610 digs and an average of 5.40 digs per set. She finished with double-figure digs in 28 of 30 matches this season and had 20-plus digs in 16 matches including a career-high 35 at ETSU. The Bristow, Va. native won seven SoCon Defensive Player of the Week honors in 2019 and is one of two players in league history to win eight career weekly awards. She concluded her career with 2,050 career digs and 4.66 digs per set, putting her third in program history on both lists.
Nominations were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by NCCSIA members.
Founded in 2002, the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
