Catamounts Drop Home Game Against Tennessee Tech

Travels to South Carolina State Sunday

Score: Tennessee Tech 67, Western Carolina 50

 Location: Ingles Court at the Ramsey Center, Cullowhee, N.C.  
 
CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball dropped its home contest to Tennessee Tech 67-50 Thursday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center. 
 
Turning Point:
After Western Carolina cut the Tennessee Tech second-quarter lead to one, 19-18 with 7:53 left, the Golden Eagles closed out the quarter with an 18-8 run and never looked back outscoring WCU by a total of 23-12. That second-quarter surge would carry over to the second half and led to Tennessee Tech's victory over the Catamounts. 
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Zanoria Cruz led the Catamounts with 13 points. 
  • Vanessa Oduaha and Endia Holliday followed teammate Cruz with 10 points each.
  • Holliday just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.  
  • Tennessee Tech's Mackenzie Coleman led all scorers with 21 points. 
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Both teams shot lights out in the third quarter at 50 plus percent. 
  • Tennessee Tech scorched the court shooting 50 percent for the game. The Catamounts shot 41.8 percent. 
  • Western Carolina forced 21 Tennessee Tech turnovers equating to 17 Catamount points. The Catamounts had 16 miscues turning into 20 Golden Eagle points. 
  • Tennessee Tech bombarded the Catamounts with threes connecting on eight to the Catamounts two. 
  • Western Carolina had its lowest rebounding output of the season ripping down 26 in the game. But in turn, held the Golden Eagles to 28.
  • There was a total of six lead changes and three ties. 
  • Tennessee Tech for almost 35 minutes of the game. 
 
 News & Notes
  • After failing to have a player score in double figures against Campbell the Catamounts got three players in the double-digit scoring column against Tennessee Tech. 
  • Western Carolina is suffering through its longest losing streak of the season having lost four straight. 
  • The Catamounts have scored under 60 points in the last four games and 50 or less in the last two.
  • The Catamounts are now 4-3 at home this season.
  • For the first time this season, the Catamounts dropped a game after forcing more turnovers than committing them. 
  • Cruz and Oduah scored in double figures for the fourth time this season while Holliday reached double digits for the third time.
