Victoria Ladd Finishes Tied for 11th to Lead WCU at Pinehurst

Catamounts finish seventh in the first of two events in eastern North Carolina

Pinehurst, N.C. – Sophomore Victoria Ladd carded a final-round score of 3-over par 75 and advanced one spot in the final standings, placing in a tie for 11th overall to lead Western Carolina at the Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate that concluded Tuesday at the Pinehurst Resort's No. 6 course. WCU posted its best team round of the event at 310 to come home seventh with a three-round score of 939.
 
Ladd countered a trio of bogeys and one double-bogey with a pair of birdies for the 3-over par round, 75 on Tuesday. The Greensboro, N.C., native was 3-over par through her first four holes before moving back to 2-over with a birdie on the par-4 fourth. She closed the round with two additional bogeys and one final birdie with 12 total pars on the final day to give her a team-best 37 for the event, tied for the second-most.
 
Senior Hazel Martin posted her third-consecutive round of 5-over par 77 to shoot 231 and finish in a three-way tie for 18th while junior Madison Isaacson slipped six spots into a tie for 28th overall with a final round 79 and a two-day score of 234.
 
Rounding out WCU's scoring five were senior Maya White who advanced three spots into 45th overall with a two-day score of 247 including a 79 on Tuesday, while senior Harper Gilreath finished 50th overall at 265.
 
Four Catamounts finished with five birdies over the 54-hole event.
 
After slipping to third after the second 18 holes on Monday, St. John's rallied to edge out runner-up Rutgers by a stroke, 897-to-898. UNCG slid to third place with an even 900 despite having the tournament's individual medalist in Tara Bettle with a three-round score of 3-under par, 213. Boston College (917) and Morehead State (921) rounded out the top five.
 
Western Carolina remains on the road in eastern North Carolina, traveling to Greenville for the ECU Easter Invitational April 3-4 at the Ironwood Country Club.
