Catamounts Fall at Home to UNCG

 Location: Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center, Cullowhee, N.C.  
 
CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's basketball dropped a 64-29 decision against UNCG Saturday on Ingles Court in the Ramsey Center.
 
Turning Point:
Western Carolina was held to four first-quarter points and a total of 29 points in the game.
 
 Individual Leaders
  • Madison Pack came close to a double-double with seven points and eight rebounds. She also had a blocked shot.
  • Tembre Moates had a solid six points and six rebounds.
  • Isys Grady led UNCG with a double-double, 11 points, and 10 rebounds. 
 
 Inside the Box Score
  • Western Carolina was held to a season-low 29 points. 
  • UNCG ripped down 43 rebounds nearly doubling up the Catamounts who had 27. 
  • The Catamounts drained six three-pointers in the game and held WCU to two – with the Catamounts hitting both in the second half. 
  • Western Carolina shot a slim 23.1 percent from the field while UNCG shot 46.6. 
  • The Catamounts had 20 turnovers which equated to 20 Spartan points. UNCG had 19 miscues, but WCU could only turn it into six points. 
  • UNCG had 38 of its 64 points in the paint. 
  • The Spartans led from the tip to the final horn of the game.
 
 News & Notes
  • Catamount super senior Moates got her fifth start of the season and first since Nov. 29, 2021, against Mars Hill. 
  • Sophomore Sophia Singer hit her second three-pointer of the season against UNCG.
  • The game against UNCG is the first of a three-game homestand for the Catamounts.
