Makaila McIntyre led Western Carolina with her second top-five finish of the Yellow Jacket Invitational as Western Carolina wrapped up their first outdoor meet of the season on Saturday at George C. Griffin Track.
McIntyre was the runner-up in the women's triple jump, turning in a top jump of 12.04 meters (39'6").On Friday, the Peachtree City, Ga. native finished in fifth place in the women's 100-meter dash.
Derica Currie finished in sixth place with a new personal best leap of 11.61 meters (38'1.25") followed by
Omare McBride in seventh place thanks to a mark of 11.60 meters (38'0.75").
Victoria Solheim finished in fourth place in the women's discus with a personal best throw of 46.45 meters (152'4"). Solheim crushed her previous personal best throw in the event of 44.89 meters (147'3"). She finished in eighth place in the final event of the meet, the women's hammer throw, with a throw of 45.81 meters (150'3").
Javell Brown finished third in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.74 meters (48'4.5"), just ahead of twin brown
Javon Brown's top mark of 14.16 meters (46'5.5") for a fourth-place result.
Owen Barr finished in seventh place thanks to his jump of 13.75 meters (45'1.5") with
Tyler Rodriguez in eighth with a leap of 13.44 meters (44'1.25").
Brandon Harvey finished in fourth place in the high jump as he cleared a height of 1.95 meters (6'4.75").
Kaleb Ambrose placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.48.
In the men's hammer throw,
Ryan Eldridge recorded his second fifth-place result of the meet with a throw of 44.94 meters (147'5").
Adam Hart finished in seventh place with a throw of 40.98 meters (134'5") followed by
Riley Center in eighth with a mark of 40.56 meters (133'1").
The Catamounts continue the outdoor season next weekend, heading to NC State for the Raleigh Relays.
