McFerrin Leads Catamounts at First Day of Clemson Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. – Junior CJ McFerrin posted a fourth-place showing on Friday in the 60-meter hurdles on the opening day of the Clemson Invitational.

McFerrin got WCU off to a strong start on Friday in the 60-meter hurdles qualifying as he finished second in his heat and fourth overall to be eligible for the finals. He posted a personal best of 8.15 to advance to the finals on Friday afternoon.

McFerrin finished fourth in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, improving on his personal best with a 7.95 performance. He also moved into second in the program's indoor record book just .10 off of Cordell Livingston's 7.85 in 2010.

In the weight throw, Austin Cline led the way with a seventh-place finish, posting a personal best of 16.05m, while Austin Ramirez placed in ninth with a personal best of 14.74m.

Jennifer Wagner led WCU in the pole vault on Friday with a sixth-place showing, posting a personal best for the junior of 3.45m. Wagner surpassed her personal best of 3.35m set last month at Clemson.

Freshman Bella Hilleary and senior Sydney Gallant each finished ninth and 10th with a mark of 3.15m.

Javon Brown posted his best long jump during the indoor season with a 7.07m, finishing seventh. His brother Javell Brown tallied a season-best 6.91m to finish 10th in the same event.

Sophomore Toria Roundtree posted her best outing in the weight throw on Friday with a 14.76m toss to place eighth overall.

The Catamounts close out the Clemson Invitational on Saturday with the high jump, triple jump, shot put, and pole vault for field events. The 200 meters and 3k are slated for the track events for WCU as well on Saturday, with everything beginning at 10:30 from Clemson.
