Hilton Head Island, S.C. – Sophomore
Brie Mapanao carded an opening-round 3-over par 75 on Friday to sit in a five-way tie for seventh place after 18 of the scheduled 54 holes at the Low Country Intercollegiate, guiding Western Carolina (308) to third in the team standings at the par-72, 6,009-yard South Course at the Moss Creek Golf Club.

Mapanao countered five bogeys with a pair of birdies and 11 pars on Friday in shooting her 3-over par round. Three bogeys and one birdie left the Australian-born striker moving to the back nine at 2-over par. Her second birdie left Mapanao 1-over for the round before two additional bogeys on the par-4 13th and par-5 14th left her at 3-over. She closed the opening round with four consecutive pars.
Fifth-year senior
Victoria Ladd posted 14 pars on Friday to shoot 5-over par 77, charting a trio of bogeys and one double-bogey, tied for 14th after 18 holes. The Greensboro, N.C., product made the turn from the front at 3-over par and finished 2-over on the back nine.
Junior
Elizabeth Lohbauer and redshirt junior
Kayleigh Baker are both tied for 22nd overall with identical scores of 6-over par 78. Lohbauer carded 12 pars in the first round with six bogeys for her 6-over par round while Baker countered a pair of double-bogeys on the front nine and three combined bogeys with a birdie on the par-4, 346-yard 12th. The duo closed their respective first rounds with five consecutive pars.
Rounding out WCU's scoring five is sophomore
Sadler Miller in a tie for 43rd at 9-over par 81. She rallied back from a quadruple bogey on her opening hole with a birdie on the par-4 second. After turning for home at 8-over par, Miller carded just one bogey on the back, finishing the day with seven straight pars.
Playing unattached as an individual,
Kaitlyn Wingnean shot 84 on Friday to sit in a tie for 61st overall, charting one birdie over the opening 18 holes.
Southern Conference foe ETSU leads the 16-team field after 18 holes, posting a team round of 299 on Friday. Richmond is second, two strokes in arrears at 301, with WCU third a combined nine strokes off the pace at 308. Event-host Wofford is fourth, a pair of strokes behind the Catamounts at 310, with Boston University and Gardner-Webb tied for fifth with matching team scores of 312.
In addition to ETSU (1st), WCU (3rd), and Wofford (4th), the SoCon is represented with UNCG (314) in eighth, Samford (319) in 11th, and The Citadel (345) in 16th.
Rory Weinfurther from Richmond and ETSU's Sophie Bert sit tied atop the individual leaderboard with matching scores of even-par 72 after Friday's first 18 holes. Victoria Takai of Boston University sits third, a stroke back at 1-over par 73.
Play continues on Saturday with the second round with the final 18 holes slated for Sunday from the South Carolina Lowcountry.
