Cullowhee, N.C. -- The Western Carolina track and field teams won't have to go too far for their next meet as they are set to host the annual Catamount Classic, presented by The Everson at the Catamount Athletic Complex. Nearly the entire Purple and Gold roster will see action across the 33 events scheduled to run from April 19 – 20. 
 
The Catamount Classic is set to begin Friday at 1:00 p.m. with the men's pole vault. Track events that day start with the women's 100-meter prelims at 3:30 p.m. Saturday begins with the WCU Senior Day ceremony where 15 graduating Catamounts will be honored for their contributions during their time in Cullowhee. Events start at Noon as the men's shot put, women's discus, women's high jump, and men's triple jump kick off the action. 
 
Saturday's action is slated for broadcast on ESPN+ (paid subscription required) with live results through SnapTiming at CatamountSports.com.
 
Catamounts to Watch 
The 2024 senior class of Catamounts consisting of Teddy Ayden, Riley Center, Andrew Edney, David Miles, Nick Kiser, Derica Currie, Lauren Esselborn, Amber Featherson, Sydney Gallant, Brianna Gayle, Mallory Lowe, Erica O'Neal, Clara Root, Sydney Runyan, and Mikayla Turner all remain names to watch as they put on their final official performances in the Catamount Athletic Complex. The 2024 senior class will see action in 17 events throughout the entirety of the meet.  
 
As for specific events, the Catamounts hold the top seed in nine events at the Catamount Classic with Imani Boyd leading the way in both the women's high and long jumps. Jalen Elwell is the only individual Catamount to hold a current top time in a track event thanks to his time of 3:54.27 in the 1500-meter run, but the men's quartet of Quinton Godfrey, Teddy Ayden, David Miles, and Noah Straley and the women's foursome of Mikayla Turner, Cymoria Thomas, Kyndal Saunders, and Leah Buttler both hold the top mark in their respective 4x400m relay.
 
Outside of Boyd, the Catamounts hold the top seed in four other field events with three being the men's and women's long jumps and the women's triple jump. Noah Straley and Heidi Hudson are set to lead the way in the single jumps while Jasmine Greene is seeded first in the triple jump because of her mark of 12.11m in the event. The fourth top-seeded field event belongs to Jackson Livingston and his mark of 59.39m in the men's javelin.
