Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina women's golf returns to action Monday at the Terrier Intercollegiate, the penultimate event of the fall season. The event, hosted by Wofford at the Country Club of Spartanburg, has been shortened to 36 holes over two days because of weather.
Monday's action now features 18 holes beginning with a Noon shotgun start. The final round is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 13. Live scoring of each round is available online through
the Scoreboard app, powered by Clippd.
The 12-team field includes host Wofford, defending champion ETSU, Appalachian State, Elon, Eastern Kentucky, Gardner-Webb, Presbyterian, Seminole State College, South Carolina State, UNCG, and Winthrop. Eight of the participating teams competed in last year's event.
With the schedule change, WCU is now paired with golfers from Appalachian State and Elon in threesomes. The Catamount scoring five opens play between holes No. 4-8 on Monday.
Fresh off her third top-15 finish of the fall and Southern Conference Women's Golfer of the Week honors, junior Elsa Maren Steinarsdóttir leads the Catamount lineup into the Upstate. She's WCU's leading returner from last year's tournament, carding six birdies in an 18th-place showing.
Steinarsdóttir is flanked by freshman
Marissa Scaletta and junior
Annalee Caveney, with freshmen
Julia Capellini and
Julie Mathea Busch Braathen rounding out the lineup. Caveney enters the week after carding her second-lowest round of the fall to close the Tot Hill Farm Invitational, while Scaletta looks to build on a career-best finish at the Elon Invitational.
Junior
Emily Rosenschein will compete unattached in the individual portion of the field.
