Women’s Golf Returns to Action in the SC Low Country

Catamounts set for 54 holes in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina women's golf is back in action after a short turnaround, returning from Puerto Rico, remaining in coastal South Carolina for the Low Country Intercollegiate, March 9-10, hosted by Wofford at the par-72, 6,707-yard Golf Club at Indigo Run in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
 
WCU and late head coach Steve Lott helped found the Low Country Intercollegiate tournament, previously co-hosted by WCU and Wofford at the Moss Creek Golf Club.
 
Action begins with 36 continuous holes on Monday, March 9, with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, and concludes with the final 18 holes on Tuesday, March 10. Live scoring is available online through the Scoreboard app, powered by Clippd.
 
In addition to the Catamounts and the host Terriers, the 15-team field includes golfers from fellow SoCon members The Citadel, ETSU, and UNCG. Rounding out the field are Appalachian State, Butler, Dayton, Gardner-Webb, Richmond, Tennessee Tech, UNC Asheville, USC Upstate
Quinnipiac and Winthrop.
 
Sophomore transfer Elsa Maren Steinarsdôttir leads the Catamount scoring five in scoring and as the No. 1 seed entering this week's event. Steinarsdôttir, tied her season-best finish with a sixth-place finish in Puerto Rico. Senior Sadler Miller will play as the second seed. Sophomore Annalee Caveney will tee off as the No. 3 seed, followed by graduate transfer EC Niebauer and sophomore transfer Emily Rosenschein.
 
Paired with golfers from Dayton and Winthrop, the Catamounts hit the course between holes No. 11 and No. 14 on Monday morning with the 9 a.m. shotgun start.
 
Following the action in the Low Country, the Catamounts play their final tune-up event ahead of the 2026 SoCon Women's Golf Championship (April 20-22), participating in Georgia's Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., March 28-30.
