Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina women's golf returns to action this week, traveling to the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational, hosted by Ball State on the Flamboyan Course at the Wyndham Palmas Golf & Beach Resort in Humacao, Puerto Rico. The three-day, 54-hole event is scheduled for March 3-5.
The tournament opens on Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. AT / 7:30 a.m. ET and includes morning shotgun starts on Wednesday and Thursday. Live scoring is available
online through the Scoreboard app, powered by Clippd.
In addition to the Catamounts and host Ball State, the eight-team field includes Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Georgia State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Tarleton State, and Tulane.
After pacing the Catamounts at the spring-opening Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, WCU's scoring five is led into play this week by sophomore transfer Elsa Maren Steinarsdôttir. She is flanked by graduate transfer
EC Niebauer as the second seed, followed by sophomore
Annalee Caveney at No. 3.
Two-sport standout
Sadler Miller, fresh off her performance at the 2026 SoCon Indoor Track & Field Championship, is seeded fourth for the Catamounts, with sophomore
Emily Rosenschein rounding out the lineup.
Paired with golfers from Arkansas State and Ball State, the Catamount scoring five hits the course on the back nine between holes No. 14 and No. 18 on Tuesday.
This year marks the third-straight season the Catamounts have ventured to Puerto Rico in tournament play. Miller is WCU's lone competitor to have played in both previous two trips, finishing tied for 26th in 2024 and was second on the squad a year ago in a 10th-place tie with a 2-over par score of 146 (69-77).
Caveney traveled to the island last year and competed as an individual for the Catamounts, posting a best round of 4-over par 76 in the first round of the rain-shortened event. WCU finished seventh when rain ended last year's tournament, and finished fifth on the trip in 2024.
Following the trip to Puerto Rico, the Catamounts return stateside for a 54-hole tournament at The Golf Club at Indigo Run on Hilton Head Island, S.C., for the Low Country Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford. WCU and late head coach Steve Lott helped found the event, previously co-hosted by WCU and Wofford at the Moss Creek Golf Club. The two days of competition are scheduled for March 9-10.
