Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina women's golf landed three players on the 2025-26 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars team released today by the coaching organization. Senior
Sadler Miller and sophomores
Annalee Caveney and Elsa Maren
Steinarsdôttir each received recognition from the WGCA for excellence in the classroom and on the links.
Miller joins a list of four other Catamount women's golfers to be selected three times in her career, while sophomore Caveney earned her second career honor. All three Catamounts recognized by the WGCA were also named to the 2026 College Sports Communicators Academic At-Large All-District team in mid-June.
This year marks the 26th consecutive year that Western Carolina has placed women's golfers on the annual WGCA honorees – and the 24th straight year that WCU has had multiple selections within the same academic year. WCU has landed multiple selections on the WGCA All-American Scholars list in 24 of the 26 years since 2000, landing three or more golfers on the squad 18 times. WCU has landed a program-best five on the list three times (2017-18, 2013-14, and 2011-12).
Western Carolina's three selections were among 1,551 women's collegiate golfers nationwide recognized with the prestigious honor. A combined 30 women's gofers from eight Southern Conference schools were recognized, including five apiece from ETSU, Furman, and UNCG; four from Wofford, three from Chattanooga, Samford, and WCU, with two from Mercer on the squad. SoCon newcomer Tennessee Tech had three student-athletes recognized.
Caveney carries a cumulative GPA of 3.61 while majoring in sport management. The Raleigh native played in WCU's scoring five in all 10 of the team's competitions last year, posting 15 of her 28 rounds in the 70s. Caveney carded a season-low round of 76 three times during the year.
Two-sport standout
Sadler Miller played in 27 of the team's 28 seasonal rounds over the 10 events, withdrawing over the second 18 holes of the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship after battling injury through the start of the round. She had a 77.48 seasonal scoring average, 29th in the conference, with 23 of her 27 rounds carded in the 70s. The Clayton, N.C., product twice posted a season-low round of 72.
Miller, who earned CSC Academic All-District honors on the at-large team and for track & field, boasts a cumulative GPA of 3.899 while majoring in interior design.
A transfer from North Alabama, Elsa Maren Steinarsdôttir had an immediate impact on the Catamount lineup this year as she paced the squad with a 76.64 scoring average, 23rd in the SoCon. She competed as part of the squad's scoring five in all 10 events, with 22 of her 28 rounds carded in the 70s, including a season-low round of 71 at the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational.
Steinarsdôttir twice posted a team-best sixth-place finish, doing so in Puerto Rico and at the Edisto Island Invitational.
Transferring in with a cumulative grade point average of 3.90,
Steinarsdôttir continues to carry a 3.634 GPA while majoring in marketing.
The criteria for selection to the WGCA
All-American Scholar Team are among the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate high academic achievement. To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season, and have played in 50 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
