Complete Results 
Rock Hill, S.C. - Western Carolina's track & field teams participating in their second outdoor invitational bringing home three victories and seven top three finishes, including one second place finish, in the Asics Winthrop Invitational this weekend.
The Catamounts got a boost form freshman sprinter Benny Davis, who took home his first outdoor first place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.31 seconds.
Also coming up with a victory in the invitational was Western Carolina's men 4x100-meter relay team with a time of 41.04 seconds. The team consisted of junior Dominique Young, senior Manteo Mitchell, freshman Benny Davis, and junior Christian Bethune.
The final victory for Western Carolina came from junior Matt Evans who took first in the Decathlon event leading the field with 6,462 points. Evans used four first place finishes in the Decathlon to win the event. Fellow teammate sophomore Sean Readon placed third in the Decathlon.
Western Carolina had many other contributors to their success in the meet coming from both the men and women's teams.
Junior Dominique Young placed third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.88 falling a mere .01 seconds behind second place in the event. Fellow teammate, senior Kevin Johnson finished right behind Young in fourth place with a time of 11.04.
Also on the men's side, senior Manteo Mitchell took a third place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.86.
Sophomore distance runner Drew Tucker had a solid showing in the 800-meter event placing third with a time of 1:53.83 seconds.
In the women's 1500-meter run, the Catamounts took second and third in the event thanks to senior Megan Isaacs placing second with a time of 4:45.11 and teammate sophomore Jordan Gaddy in third place just a mere .40 seconds from Isaacs.
The women's 4x100-meter relay team finished in second place falling just behind Charlotte by .20 seconds. The team consisted of sophomores Felicia Paulding, Janet Carothers, freshman Emma Bowers, and junior Sherelle Fronberger.
In the men's long jump event, junior Alex Dollard placed fourth jumping 7.03 meters. Fellow junior Jestin Jennings placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles event with a time of 55.66 seconds. In the women's 400-meter hurdles, junior Tierra Johnson took home a third place finish with a time of 1:05.05.
Western Carolina also performed well in the Hammer Throw event as sophomore Chelsea Mclean threw 41.86 meters to finish fourth. On the men's side, junior Cale McDaniel also finished fourth with a 50.15-meter throw.
Western Carolina returns home this weekend to host the first annual Mountains versus Beach event being held at the Catamount Athletic Complex. The event will put Western Carolina and rival Appalachian State working together to take on ECU & UNC-Wilmington beginning on Saturday April 4.
