Statesboro, Ga. - Western Carolina Catamount Kristin Cotton took her singles opponent to the wire in the second set to claim the win, but Georgia Southern had already gained six points for the victory over the Cats Saturday in Statesboro.
All three Catamount tandums fell in doubles action, giving the Eagles the first point of the match. Then, GSU went on to claim five of six singles matches to secure the win. Cotton pulled out the lone WCU victory versus Krystel Sauvageau, 6-1, 7-6 (10). Western's Rocio Perez fought hard in her match with Charlotte Bruneteaux before falling, 7-6 (6), 6-3.
Western Carolina now heads to Hilton Head, S.C., for the team's annual spring break matches. The Cats will face Belont, Indiana State, Slippery Rock and Evansville between Mar. 8-10.
