ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Western Carolina track & field teams had one individual winner and eight top-10 finishes Friday at the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational held at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Complex.
Trini Feggett was the winner in the men's long jump with a leap of 7.54 meters (24'9”).
Lesleigh Tabor was the runner-up in the women's shot put with a throw of 13.62 meters (44'8.25”).
Jaelyn Warren finished in second place in the women's high jump as she cleared a height of 1.65 meters (5'5”).
Makaila McIntyre scored a fourth-place finish in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.48 meters (17'11.75”).
Dakota Wright finished fourth in the men's shot put with a throw of 15.82 meters (51'11”). Ryan Eldridge finished seventh thanks to a throw of 15.82 meters (48'2.5”) with Mac Bennett in ninth at 14.59 (47'10.5”).
Jamie Blaylock finished in fourth place in the women's 5,000-meter run with a personal best time of 18:31.85.
Kinley Drummonds finished in fifth place in the women's pole vault and was joined by Carter Unger in eighth place. Both cleared 3.45 meters (11' 3.75”),
The Catamounts were well represented in the preliminaries with several student-athletes qualifying for Saturday finals.
Feggett qualified for the finals in the men's 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash with times of 10.61 and 21.39 respectively.
Kellsie Whitehead posted the top time in the women's 400-meter dash and will run in the finals Saturday thanks to her time of 56.91.
Devaniel Dale was fastest in the men's 400-meter dash preliminaries as he completed his lap in 48.60. He also qualified for the finals in the men's 200-meter dash.
Mike Jones qualified for the finals in the men's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.59 as he finished in sixth place in the preliminaries.
The meet continues Saturday at 9 a.m. with the women's triple jump.
