CULLOWHEE, N.C. – Western Carolina women's tennis completed play on day one of the Catamount Fall Classic Saturday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
The Catamounts opened the event with a sweep in singles play against Brenau. Kata Foldeak (6-3, 6-4), Jacy Smith (6-2, 6-2), Anna Uljanov (6-4, 6-0), Anna Benavides (6-0, 6-0), and Miray Konar (6-1, 6-0) each won in straight sets.
In its first doubles matches of the day, Western Carolina took all three contests against Gardner-Webb. Smith and Julia Pezzuco won 6-4, Uljanov and Foldeak picked up a 6-3 victory, and Jordyn King paired with Konar to win 6-4.
Presbyterian took two of three matches from the Catamounts to close out the day with Uljanov and Foldeak getting the line win 6-4.
With the singles win against Brenau freshman Konar is 4-0 in fall play. Smith is also 4-0 in doubles play in the fall.
Western Carolina concludes play Sunday in the home tournament beginning with doubles play against Brenua beginning at 8:45 a.m. Â
