Jake Peacock rallied 10 positions in the final individual standings on Tuesday, pacing the Catamounts with a 17th-place finish as WCU came home sixth at the ECU Intercollegiate hosted by East Carolina at the par-72, 6,830-yard Brooke Valley Country Club. The Catamounts matched their first-round score of 300 on Tuesday over the final 18 holes, shooting 904 for the tournament.
Tuesday's Top 10 finish for WCU was it's ninth of the 2021-22 season and matches its best showing of the spring semester.
Peacock countered four bogeys with five birdies to card his best round of the 54-hole tournament at 1-under par 71 in the final 18 holes. Opening on the back nine, the Milton, Ga., product recorded each of his final-round birdies to make the turn for home at 3-under par. He came home with seven pars and two bogeys for the 1-under round. Peacock finished with 34 pars and eight birdies in recording a final tally of 222.

Presten Richardson slipped 22 positions on Tuesday to come home in a tie for 30th at 228. Richardson added two birdies to his tournament total of eight, carding a final-round score of 83. Senior
Louis Theys matched Peacock's 10-spot rally to finish tied for 42nd overall with a score of 231, posting his best round of the tournament on Tuesday with a 3-over par 75. Theys carded 13 pars with a birdie countering four bogeys over the final 18 holes.
Rounding WCU's scoring five were senior Tumi Kúld, down seven spots from the second round to finish tied for 46th, with junior
Magnus Pedersen recording the squad's biggest gain over the final 18 holes by climbing 17 positions into a tie for 53rd overall after shooting his tournament-best 3-over par 74. Kúld posted seven birdies in the tournament with Pedersen carding three – one in each round – and paced the team with 35 pards
Southern Mississippi posted a three-round score of 864 to cruise to the team championship by 21 strokes over the runner-up Francis Marion at 885. Tournament host East Carolina climbed two spots in the final standings to finish third at 888 with Gardner-Webb (890) and Oakland (893) rounding out the top five.
Zack Byers of Gardner-Webb and West Virginia individual Max Green shared the individual medalist honors with matching scores of 5-under par 211.
Western Carolina next heads to the west coast for the SU Invite by OGIO, hosted by Seattle University at the Chambers Bay Golf Club in University Place, Wash. The two-round, 54-hole tournament is scheduled for April 4-5.
