Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina Cheerleading will hold open tryouts for the 2022-2023 squad on April 29-30 on-campus in Camp Lab Gym. Registration for the 22-23 tryout is open now through April 28.
 
The 2022-23 tryout begins on Friday, April 29 at 5:30 p.m. and continues all-day Saturday, April 30, and will include learning all of the material that is performed in front of the coaching staff including sidelines and dances, stunting, and tumbling skills. The tryout will also include a short interview with the coaching staff, a timed mile run, a Catamount Athletics quiz, and a $25 tryout fee due at check-in. The 2022-23 WCU Cheer squad will be announced via email on Sunday, May 1.
 
All applicants must bring all of the completed forms including proof of insurance, proof of having a medical physical within the past 12 months, and the tryout fee. (A complete checklist is provided in the tryout packet).
 
Leading up to the annual tryout weekend, WCU's cheerleaders will also hold a college cheerleading preparation clinic on March 12 in the auxiliary gymnasium in the Ramsey Center. With a cost of $30, the clinic will include stunting and tumbling instruction, feedback from the coaching staff, a Q&A session with current Catamount cheerleaders and a WCU campus tour.
