Women’s Golf 17th Entering Sunday’s Final Round in Chapel Hill

Third round opens Sunday at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at Tar Heel Invite

Chapel Hill, N.C. – Western Carolina women's golf knocked a stroke off its second-round score on Saturday but slipped three spots into 17th overall entering Sunday's final round at the highly-competitive Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational, hosted by the University of North Carolina at the par-70, 6,081-yard UNC Finley Golf Course.
 
Senior Elizabeth Lohbauer leads WCU in a tied for 34th, advancing seven spots Saturday with a 2-over par 72 for a two-day total of 147. Three over par through nine holes, the Venice, Fla., product charted a pair of birdies to move to 1-over par with two holes to play. However, a fourth bogey relegated her to 2-over par on the day.
 
Freshman Madison Lehr slid into a tie for 57th with a two-round tally of 152 (75-77), while classmate Annalee Caveney advanced eight positions into a tie for 69th with a total of 155 (80-75). Caveney countered eight bogeys with a trio of birdies. She was 1-over through 13 holes on Saturday before she carded bogeys on four of her final five holes.
 
Rounding out WCU's scoring five are freshman Ella Kozak in a three way tie for 80th at 158 (77-81) and junior Sadler Miller in 85th with a two-day score of 160 (79-81).
 
Michigan State climbed one spot with a second-round score of 283 for a 36-hole score of 569 to lead Tennessee by three strokes after the Volunteers jumped three spots with a Saturday-best score of 282 for a two-round total of 572. Louisville advanced a one position to enter the final round on the podium, five strokes off the pace at 574 with Wake Forest (575) and Duke (576) rounding out the top five.
 
Duke's Andie Smith moved one spot into the individual lead with a total of 134, two strokes ahead of North Carolina's Megan Streicher who climbed 10 spots to the runner-up position at 136. Bailey Davis of Tennessee was the big gainer of the day, vaulting 31 positions with Saturday's best score of 6-under par 64 to enter Sunday in third, four strokes in arrears at 138.
 
Paired with golfers from Rollins College and five individual competitors, WCU's scoring five hits the links for the final round at 9:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
