Cullowhee, N.C. -- Western Carolina women's soccer continues to garner post-season praise as
Naya Marcil and
Isabella DeMarco were named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Team for outstanding performances both on the pitch and in the classroom this season. The Catamount pairing were the only Southern Conference student-athletes to earn a spot on their regional teams with Marcil and DeMarco earning first-team honors.
Both Catamounts were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast team solely for their performance on the pitch earlier this month. The scholar all-region team selection is the second in as many seasons for Marcil who was named an All-South second-team honoree last season.
Marcil earned academic honors after posting a 3.78 GPA in management during her final season in Cullowhee. The Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada product paced the Catamount offense this season, recording a career-high 10 goals while adding five assists for a record-setting Catamount attack. She ended her career as one of only three WCU strikers to post 20 or more goals and assists, joining Nardia Moore (199-2002) and Lauren Atkinson (2004-07). Additionally, Marcil capped her Catamount campaign with the program's second-most career assists (21), the third-most goals (23), and the third-most points (67).

Isabella DeMarco has likewise made quite a name for herself on the pitch and in the classroom. DeMarco earned her first career United Soccer Coaches Scholar all-region selection after recording a 3.67 GPA in integrated health science. Entering her senior year, DeMarco is approaching rare air in the Catamount record books. She is currently tied for the fourth-most career goals (22), and the third-most assists (20), and is sitting alone at fourth in career points with 64.
