Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina second-year head women's basketball coach Jonathan Tsipis and his staff continue to build the 2025-26 roster, today announcing the addition of graduate transfer Ary Dizon, who spent the last two seasons at Cal State Bakersfield.
Dizon is the third transfer addition for Tsipis this season, joining Memphis transfer Ally Hollifield and Betsey Burnett from Johnson C. Smith to join the WCU roster for next season. It is the second time that Dizon will play for the Catamounts after beginning her collegiate career with the NCAA's only other Catamount moniker at the University of Vermont.
Originally from Tampa, Fla., Dizon is 6-1 forward with over 88 collegiate game appearances under her belt between CSU Bakersfield and Vermont. She comes to Cullowhee after an outstanding season with the Roadrunners where she averaged 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, pacing the team in both categories. She started all 30 games last season and averaged 32.3 minutes per outing. Dizon scored 284 points on 39.9% shooting from the floor in Bakersfield, chipping in 68 blocks and 32 steals during 2024-25.
Prior to suiting up for the Roadrunners, Dizon played two seasons in 2021-22 and 2022-23 at Vermont in the America East Conference. She played in 53 games for the northerly Catamounts, recording 112 points on 38.0% shooting from the floor. Defensively, she added 36 blocks and 16 steals while coming off the bench in Burlington. Dizon saw action for the Catamounts in their tremendous 2022-23 campaign, contributing to a 17-game win streak and an eventual NCAA tournament appearance.
Dizon was named the 2021 Carrollwood Day School Athlete of the Year following a senior season where she was team captain and named a Hillsborough County All-Star. She averaged 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.2 blocks and 2.6 steals per game as a prep senior. A 1,000-point scorer in her high school career, Dizon was a key member of a state championship squad for Carrollwood her junior year. She was a multi-sport athlete for the Patriots, competing on the track and field teams, as well as the flag football team.
The trio of newcomers join five returners from a season ago including Kennedy Hilsenroth, Taj Hunter, Kehinde Obasuyi, Grace Pack, and Erin Stack.
