Three Catamounts Named WGCA All-American Scholars

Elizabeth Lohbauer, Sadler Miller, and Annalee Caveney each honored

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina women's golf landed three players on the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars Team released this week by the coaching organization. Senior Elizabeth Lohbauer, junior Sadler Miller, and freshman Annalee Caveney each received recognition from the WGCA.

Miller earns her second plaudit in as many years, while Caveney and Lohbauer both earned the first honor of their careers. Earlier this month, Lohbauer and Miller both collected College Sports Communicators (CSC) At-Large Academic All-District honors, with Miller becoming the first Catamount women's golfer to earn district honors in multiple seasons.

This year marks the 25th consecutive year that Western Carolina has placed women's golfers among the list of annual WGCA honorees – and the 23rd straight year that WCU has had multiple selections within the same academic year. A combined 18 women's golfers from five Southern Conference schools were recognized, including six from UNCG, four apiece from Furman and Wofford, three from WCU, while Mercer put one on the honorary team.

Western Carolina's three selections were among 1,499 women's collegiate golfers nationwide from 403 programs recognized with this prestigious honor. WCU has put multiple selections on the WGCA All-American Scholars list in 23 of the 25 years since 2000, landing three or more golfers on the squad 17 times, including this year's trio. WCU has thrice landed a program-best five on the list (2017-18, 2013-14, and 2011-12).

Elizabeth Lohbauer led the Catamount scoring five with a seasonal stroke average of 75.46, the 12th-best single-season in program history. A combined 25 of her 28 rounds in her All-Southern Conference season were shot in the 70s or better, including a season-low round of 69 over the final 18 holes at The Robbie. Lohbauer recorded five Top 10 finishes, including three ninth-place showings and a season-best third-place finish at the SoCon Women's Golf Championship.

A senior from Venice, Fla., Lohbauer finished with a 3.53 GPA while majoring in nutrition and dietetics. She is a three-time Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient, with the 2024-25 list to be officially announced. Lohbauer was also a three-time SoCon Women's Golfer of the Week in her career.

Sadler Miller was in the starting lineup for all 10 of the team's seasonal events in 2024-25, finishing the year third on the squad with a 78.50 scoring average over 28 rounds. She fired 16 rounds at 70 or better, including a career-low round of 69 on the opening 18 holes at the Puerto Rico Classic. A product of Clayton, N.C., Miller finished a season-best fourth at the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate before flirting with the top of the leaderboard at the SoCon Women's Golf Championship, finishing 14th.

Miller, who was also selected to the CSC Academic All-District team for her performance with women's outdoor track & field, boasts a 3.93 cumulative GPA while majoring in interior design. It is her second WGCA All-American Scholar recognition.

Freshman Annalee Caveney competed in all 10 events last year, completing 27 total rounds, including 11 in the 70s. She posted her best career finish in the final event of the fall semester, placing in a tie for 19th at Lipcomb's tournament, The Robbie.

A product of Raleigh, N.C., Caveney boasts a 3.83 GPA while majoring in sport management.

The criteria for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team are among the most stringent in all college athletics and continue to demonstrate high academic achievement. To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season, and have played in 50 percent of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.
