Women's Soccer Adds Eleven Newcomers for 2025 Season

Nine freshmen, two transfers come from Canada, France, and eight states

Cullowhee, N.C. – Winners of back-to-back Southern Conference regular season championships, Western Carolina women's soccer has reloaded for the 2025 campaign as head coach Chad Miller announced the addition of 11 newcomers to the Catamount program.

The 11 new players come to Cullowhee from eight different states – Arizona, Florida (2), Georgia, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia – with a pair of international student-athletes from Canada and France. The group includes nine incoming freshmen and two transfer additions hailing from junior college Daytona State and NCAA Division II-member, Limestone University.

"We are thrilled to welcome these talented student-athletes to Catamount Country," said Miller, who enters his 15th season as the Catamount skipper. "This class will help us continue to evolve as a program and add great depth, leadership, and quality to our amazing group already here."

The incoming Catamounts are set to join a team that retains most of its production from the 2024 championship squad, including 50% of its goals scored (26 of 52), 56% of its assists (27 of 48), 60% of its shot attempts (237 of 395), and 62% of its shots on goal (123 of 199). The Catamounts also return nearly 70% of their game experience from last season (14,355 of 20,789 total minutes), including a pair of Catamounts who logged over 1,800 minutes in defensive anchors Leanne Trudel between the pipes and defender Mary Mueth.

WCU hosts Charleston Southern on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 4 p.m. and Queens University of Charlotte on Friday, Aug. 8, at 6 p.m. in exhibition action at the Catamount Athletics Complex in Cullowhee.
