Madison Isaacson, WCU Finish Tied for Third at French Broad

Catamounts conclude fall semester with fifth Top 10, fourth Top Five

Arden, N.C. – Senior Madison Isaacson carded a team-best, 2-over par 73 in Wednesday's final round of the fall semester, finishing in a three-way tie for third-place as the French Broad Collegiate Invitational concluded at the par-71, 5,937-yard The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. Isaacson guided the Catamounts to a third-place tie to end the fall portion of the 2021-22 schedule, WCU's fourth Top Five finish.

Isaacson countered a pair of bogeys with two birdies on the front nine to make the turn for home at even-par on Wednesday. Three bogeys over the next seven holes left her at 3-over for the round before carding a sixth birdie for the tournament to shoot 73 for the three-day score of 220. The Greensboro, N.C., product paced the field with 36 pars over the 54-hole event.

Freshman Elizabeth Lohbauer slid eight positions in the final standings into a tie for 13th after shooting 78 on Wednesday, posting a three-day score of 226. She charted a pair of birdies in the final round to finish with seven total to accompany 29 pars.

Rounding out WCU's lineup were sophomore Trinity Ahing and redshirt freshman Kayleigh Baker, both placing in a three-way tie for 25th overall with matching scores of 232. Ahing led WCU with nine birdies while Baker carded three of her five birdies on Wednesday.

Wofford claimed the team championship by two-strokes over hard-charging Eastern Kentucky, which carded the tournament's best round on Wednesday at 288 to climb three spots in the final standings. The Terriers finished with a three-round score of 896, just ahead of the Colonels at 898. WCU finished tied with both High Point and Gardner-Webb with 54-hole team scores of 910.

EKU's Ragga Kristinsdottir carded a second-straight round of 1-under par 70 on Wednesday to claim individual medalist honors, edging second-round leader Praew Nontarux of USC Upstate by a stroke, 218-to-219.

Western Carolina returns to action early in the spring semester, traveling to Panama City Beach, Fla., for the Lady Bison Bay Point Classic, hosted by Lipscomb Feb. 7-8. The tournament is the first of five events in the spring semester that culminates with the 2020 Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship April 17-19 at the Dye Course at the Barefoot Resort & Golf in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
