Eatonton, Ga. – Western Carolina women's golf battled through Sunday's final round to come home 14th overall in the team standings at the spring-opening Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, contested at the par-72, 6,107-yard Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee. WCU posted team rounds of 299 on Friday, 310 on Saturday, and 328 over the final 18 holes on Sunday for a total of 937.
Sophomore transfer Elsa Maren Steinarsdôttir led the Catamount scoring five, coming home in a three-way tie for 42nd individually with a three-round score of 230. She carded four birdies over the first weekend of the spring and finished with a team-high tying 35 pars.

Annalee Caveney advanced six spots in the final standings, carding WCU's best final round with a 6-over par 78 on Sunday, finishing tied for 51st overall to match senior
Sadler Miller with a three-round total of 233. Caveney had 12 pars against six bogeys on Sunday, while Miller charted her fourth birdie of the tournament in shooting 82 over the final 18 holes. Miller matched Steinarsdôttir with 35 pars.
Rounding out WCU's scoring five was graduate transfer
EC Niebauer in 71st overall with a score of 241, and sophomore transfer
Emily Rosenschein in 78th with a score of 256.
Virginia Tech (868) rallied on Sunday to claim the team championship by seven strokes over runner-up, UNCG (875). Tournament host Mercer (888) finished third, followed by Boston College (893), and a two-way tie for fifth between Central Arkansas (899) and Delaware (899).
McKenzie Mages of South Dakota State claimed individual medalist honors, finishing with a 4-under par 212, one of just two golfers to finish the three-day event with a red number. Maggie Huett, an individual competitor from Central Arkansas, finished second a pair of strokes in arrears at 214.
Western Carolina returns to action March 3-5 in Humacao, Puerto Rico, for the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational, hosted by Ball State at the Flamboyan Course at the Wyndham Palmas Golf & Beach Resort. The Catamounts return to the Caribbean for a second consecutive season after finishing seventh a year ago in the rain-shortened event.
