Cullowhee, N.C. -- The outdoor season is here for the Catamounts as the Western Carolina track and field teams are set to make their first appearances at the NC State-hosted Raleigh Relays on March 27-28 and the Davidson Relays on March 29th.
Only three Catamounts will see action in Raleigh as
Ericka Jackson,
Jackson Livingston, and
Ethan Long make the four-hour trip east. Livingston and Jackson are scheduled to compete in the men's and women's javelin throw on Thursday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., respectively. The reigning Heath Whittle award winner from the indoor season, Long will make a showing in the men's 100m on Friday at 2:05 p.m.
The Raleigh trio will then rejoin the rest of the Catamounts for the Davidson Relays on Saturday. Events in Davidson begin at 8:00 a.m. with the men's hammer throw. Track events start at the sound of the gun for the men's 4x100m at 11:00 a.m.

Catamounts to Watch:
Jackson Livingston is set to make his 2025 track and field debut this week and will compete in the javelin throw in both meets. The junior from Prosperity, S.C. is looking to build off a silver-medal performance in the event during the 2024 SoCon Outdoor Championships, where he set a personal best with a 62.30m mark, the second-best throw in school history. He'll be the only male Catamount competing in the event in Raleigh, but will be alongside
Dominick Dale in the javelin throw for the Davidson Relays.
Outstanding freshmen
Ethan Long and
Lexie Durban will make their Catamount outdoor debuts after tremendous showings at the conference indoor championships in Virginia. Long is scheduled to compete in the 100m in Raleigh and the 200m in Davidson, while Durban, the reigning Indoor Female Freshman of the Year, will record her first collegiate marks in the outdoor shot put, the discus, and the hammer throw.
The majority of the Catamount cross country team will see action in the mid-long distance events as well, though only
Jessica Connole,
Hannah Kliner, and
Sara Klemm are scheduled to compete in the women's 3k.
Amaya Hicks,
Katherine Hopkins,
Braelyn-Shae Wahy, and
Peyton Skoglund will compete in the 1500m/mile for the women's team while
John Davis,
Justin Hayes,
Will Mitchell,
Peter Schihl, and
Chase Thurber earn their first outdoor marks of the year in the men's portion of the event.
The men's and women's teams will see a combined 21 Catamounts compete in the 100m and 200m sprints, with 12 competing on the women's side alone.

The track and field squads will be back in action for the High Point-hosted VertKlasse Meeting on April 4-5. They'll then split as a team for the Duke Invitational (April 10-12) and the UNC Asheville Invitational (April 11-12) before returning home for the annual Catamount Classic (April 25-26).
