Danny Williamson (Track & Field Head Coach, 1987-2016)
A name synonymous with Catamount track & field success. Led WCU to 32 Southern Conference track & field titles. Coached well over 700 WCU student-athletes to All-SoCon plaudits and led 250 Catamounts to cross country and track & field individual conference event championships during a career that spanned 30 years. Saw 19 Catamounts earn SoCon Athletes of the Year, 28 collect SoCon Freshman of the Year awards, and mentored three All-America selections. Honored 39 times as the SoCon Coach of the Year, the second-most in conference history. Two-time USTFCCCA Southeast Region Indoor Coach of the Year (2004 & 2005) and Outdoor (2005), named NCAA Div. I Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Southeast Region Coach of the Year in 2006, and received the 10K SoCon Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Hard Charger Coaches Award in 1999.
